WEBOct 2, 2011 — The shop is built on original earth, and there is so much clay in the soil that the concrete truck barely made an impression in the dirt when it was there to pour the concrete. As for frost, the frostline here is only about 18-20", and from the top of the concrete to the bottom on the edges is about 24" all the way around the perimeter.

WEBJun 16, 2011 — My steel building cost $16K and it is 40 x 60 with 14' walls with 1 man door and one 12 wide by 14 tall roll up door. Your 30 x 40 should be considerably less than $19K delivered. Steel is great because it goes up fast, and never rots or warps. Mine was finished in 4 days using 2 helpers and a platform lift.

LS2, th350, atlas 3.0, spidertrax 9's, 39's. siding is on, windows in, next to doors, wiring, insulation, and sheeting.

WEBMay 22, 2006 — I have already bought the insulation, and it's sitting on the floor of my house garage waiting for me to finish the electrical rough in. Home Depot had a sale recently on R13 and also gave a $75 gift card with a $250 purchase. When the house was built I made sure to get the garage done with the rest of the house.

WEBNov 20, 2012 — If you are dead set on a pole building, for sure diagonal bracing in all of the corners. Make sure you require this be done or your shear strength is crap. A much better option is stick frame with 2x6 and osb the entire exterior. Trusses 2ft. on center and sheath the entire roof before the metal.

WEBJan 18, 2008 — Use Prybars and scissor jacks (get out of cars at the junkyard) to get the building high enough to put the beams under it. Use Hi-Lifts to pick the beams up (a couple inches at a time, inchworm style) high enough to get the trailer under the beams. Drop the beams (inchworm style again) onto the trailer.

In lue of a mezzanine, at 8' I built a loft across the back of my shop. gives me @5 1/2' of head room in the center and tapers to the walls. near the wall on one side i use for tubing storage, other side is body panels and tires, etc..
