A woman had children inside her SUV when she intentionally struck and killed a mother of three in Camden, New Jersey, and then fled the scene, according to investigators.

The accused hit-and-run driver in a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Camden last week has been charged with murder, officials said. Ajee Williams, 30, of Camden, surrendered to authorities Saturday, three days after the crash, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Carlos Mahan says the past few days have been an emotional rollercoaster after detectives first came to his home in Camden to tell him his daughter, 41-year-old Carla Mahan, died after she was run over.

At the scene, officers found 41-year-old Carla Mahan lying in a grassy lot. She was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
