A free-wheeling Jack Hughes had a goal and two assists and the New Jersey Devils beat the Montreal Canadiens 5-3 for their fourth win in five games.

Jesper Bratt collected two goals and an assist and Jack Hughes also recorded a three-point performance, fueling the New Jersey Devils to a 5-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday in Newark,

Hughes moved the puck across the crease on the backhand, giving Jesper Bratt an easy shot to shovel into the net! The Devils took a 1-0 lead only a minute and a half into the game. Johnny Kovacevic took a tripping penalty in the corner when he was defending Nick Suzuki as the Canadiens forward tried to take the puck down low,

The Devils lacked an enforcer in the last week when they needed one. No one responded to Jesper Bratt being hit high against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and nobody went after Romanov after he smashed into Hughes. Both were clean hits, and the bench stood up when Hughes took the hit, but the Devils certainly needed someone to protect their stars.
