BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla defended the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur by saying that it was a ‘heritage’ ground and it was the first time that days were lost during a Test match due to rain.

Rajeev Shukla reiterated that no decision has been made yet regarding India’s travel to Pakistan. The BCCI’s policy, he explained, is clear: for international tours, the Indian cricket board always seeks government approval before moving forward.

After no play was possible on Day 2 and 3, Kanpur was criticsed by many but the BCCI vice-president has defended the choice to hand the Test match to the stadium.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajeev Shukla came out in defence of facilities at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, which has been under criticism during the second Test between India and Bangladesh.

BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla stated that the Indian government will decide if the national cricket team will travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next year. The tournament is scheduled from February 19 to March 9.

Pakistan are scheduled to host the prestigious ICC Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9. But as has been the case for the past 16 years, India have refused to travel to the neighbouring country for the tournament with constant political upheavals between the two nations.
