Laken Riley murder suspect Jose Ibarra will return to court Monday for the second day of his trial. Ibarra is accused of attacking and killing Riley on her run on Feb. 22.

Jose Antonio Ibarra, the migrant who allegedly killed nursing student Laken Riley, received a taxpayer-funded hotel stay in New York City and a flight to Atlanta, Georgia, in September 2023, according to a witness in a criminal court trial on Monday.

A former roommate of the man charged with murder in the death of Laken Riley — the Georgia nursing student whose killing set off a political firestorm over immigration — testified Monday that he is the man seen in a video throwing away a jacket that prosecutors say had Riley’s blood on it.
