Pacific officials are encouraging residents in impacted areas to evacuate by 6 a.m. Thursday morning as the Meramec River continues to rise due to the recent torrential rains, with two shelters set to open in the Pacific.

In a Wednesday announcement, the city said the NOAA National Water Prediction Service predicted the river at Pacific to rise to 28 feet by around noon Friday.

Valley Park, Eureka and St. Louis County officials are also bracing for Meramec flooding by closing roads and encouraging residents to prepare for high water.
