Austinites may soon be able to hop in a Tesla robotaxi, as Elon Musk's electric vehicle maker targets a possible June 12 launch and has already started testing its driverless Model Y vehicles in the city.

Tesla has been testing its robotaxis without a human driver for several days, and the service should roll out to customers next month, CEO Elon Musk says.

Updated on May 28 at 6:55 p.m. ET: On Wednesday, May 28, Bloomberg reported that Tesla will now be launching its robotaxi service in Austin on June 12.
