They shut down more than 400 stores in 2024 in the wake September filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The bankruptcy also helped initiate a sales agreement with Nexus Capital Management, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm, which would act as a "stalking-horse bidder" in a court-supervised auction, the retailer announced last fall.
