Hurricane Milton's powerful winds overnight Wednesday severely damaged the roof of the Tampa Bay Rays' home ballpark, Tropicana Field, which had been set for use by workers responding to the storm. Overhead TV images of the domed stadium in St. Petersburg showed big swaths of its paneled roof were left tattered in the wake of 100-plus mph winds.

But Tropicana Field, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays, was affected by it, with its roof completely destroyed by the hurricane. Inside the stadium were beds for first responders and others, and as you’ll see from footage below, the roof is completely shredded.

Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida on Wednesday, and the storm caused significant damage throughout the state. The storm was officially classified as a Category 3 hurricane as it hit Florida’s Gulf Coast. One of the venues that fell victim to Milton was the domed stadium of Major League Baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays, Tropicana Field.
