The latest Anfernee Simons trade rumors are ridiculous for the Boston Celtics. To be fair, it is the depths of the summer doldrums, and with the corresponding lack of activity currently going down in the NBA, any scrap of a rumor ends up getting magnified considerably.

The Boston Celtics have a divisional rival who is reportedly targeting Anfernee Simons in what would be a blockbuster trade if a deal came through. Simons would be a great fit with the core of the would-be team, but would also get the Celtics fully under the luxury tax.

When the Boston Celtics acquired Anfernee Simons from the Portland Trail Blazers for Jrue Holiday, they did so in their efforts to save money to get under the NBA's second tax apron. Since the trade, there have been rumors about the Celtics trying to re-route Simons elsewhere.
