Well-liked in the locker room and among the Minnesota fan base, Gaudreau spent four years with the Wild having previously played three years for Nashville and one for Pittsburgh. In 2023 he signed a five-year contract extension worth $2.1 million per season and has three years remaining on that deal.

Minnesota Wild center Freddy Gaudreau has been traded to the Seattle Kraken for draft compensation, the Wild confirmed Thursday. Gaudreau tallied 37 points (18 goals and 19 assists) for Minnesota this past season. Originally signing with the Wild as a free agent in 2021, Gaudreau totaled 56 goals and 78 assists in four seasons with Minnesota.

The Wild get out of the remaining three years of the 32-year-old’s contract at $2.1 million annually. Gaudreau had a 15-team no-trade list.
