Sunday was not the first time Montgomery held his leaders in check; Bruins captain Brad Marchand committed a turnover that led to a Utah Hockey Club goal, which happened to be overturned, in Boston’s 2-1 overtime loss Oct. 19. After the play, Montgomery was spotted yelling at Marchand on the bench.

Boston Bruins star David Pastrnak took full accountability following his benching in the third period of Sunday’s 2–0 win over the Seattle Kraken. After committing a turnover late in the second period and struggling with penalty-kill duties, Pastrnak did not return to the ice for the final 20 minutes.

Following the Bruins’ 2-0 win over the Kraken, Montgomery told the media that Pastrnak remained on the bench for the final 20 minutes due to “a coach’s decision” and wouldn’t comment on the situation beyond that.
