Forecasters are warning of possibly significant ice accumulations in several mid-Atlantic states that could cause widespread power outages and disrupt travel

A powerful winter storm is bringing heavy rain, snow, and dangerous ice accumulations across the U.S., disrupting travel, closing schools, and increasing power outage risks. Authorities urge caution as conditions worsen into next week.

"February is kicking off with a very stormy pattern," AccuWeather meteorologist Bernie Rayno said. "A parade of three winter storms will bring snow, ice and sleet to millions of people from the Midwest through the Northeast.”

Millions of people across more than 20 states from the Midwest to the Northeast are on alert as the first in a pair of ice storms begins to impact travel due to widespread freezing rain. FOX Weather Meteorologist Britta Merwin and Craig Herrera have the forecast.
