ANN ARBOR, MI - Santa Ono’s temporary successor comes from within the University of Michigan community. Domenic Grasso, the chancellor for the Dearborn campus, was selected as the university’s interim president, officials announced Thursday, May 8. The decision came after a closed meeting by the Board of Regents.

Dr. Santa J. Ono, current president at the University of Michigan, will resign in order to take the same role at the University of Florida.

In an announcement Sunday, Santa J. Ono, the president for the University of Michigan informed students and faculty he would be taking a new position as the president of the University of Florida, after the college’s presidential search committee named Ono its sole finalist for the position.
