England delivered a much-improved display but Tilak Varma’s nerveless 72 not out carried India to a nail-biting two-wicket victory and a 2-0 lead in their five-match T20 series in Chennai.

Showing admirable maturity, Tilak Varma made the difference with a superb unbeaten 72 (55 balls, 4x4, 5x6). It wasn’t a typical Chennai turner but there were enough help for spinners after India opted to bowl.
