Tiafoe moves on to play Pablo Carreño Busta in the second round on Wednesday. He lost in the first round in his first six French Opens, but has now gotten to the second round in four consecutive years. Tiafoe has only advanced to the third round at Roland-Garros once, where he lost to Alexander Zverev in 2023.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka cruised into the second round of the French Open on Sunday with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Russia's Kamilla Rakhimova.

For Sabalenka to win this year’s French Open she will have to wrestle the title from the four-time champion, Iga Swiatek. Swiatek has won 35 of 37 matches at Roland Garros, including 21 in a row, but she has not won a title since she beat Jasmine Paolini in the French final last year.
