Caden Bodine, a Haddon Heights native, was chosen by the Baltimore Orioles with the 30 th overall pick, a compensatory selection in the first round. T he former Coastal Carolina star was considered the best defensive catching prospect in the draft and was the Buster Posey Award winner, given to the nation’s top catcher.

Caden Bodine had one of the greatest seasons in collegiate catching history. The Coastal Carolina catcher from Haddon Heights earned First Team All-American honors across several publications. His elite defensive ability, mixed with his consistent bat, made him the top catcher in the country.

The catcher played his best year of college ball this past season with Coastal Carolina. “There’s no mistake for where he is today,” said his former high school coach Eric Newell.
