A SpaceX rocket carried the world's first wooden satellite, LignoSat, into space at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Tuesday as part of a resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

Japan launched LignoSat, the first wooden satellite, to test eco-friendly materials for space en route to more sustainable space exploration.

Japanese researchers just sent the world’s first wooden satellite to space, as reported by CNN. LignoSat, named after the Latin word for wood, was developed by Kyoto University and a company called Sumitomo Forestry.
