President Donald Trump on Monday sought to increase pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin in a bid to secure an end to Moscow's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Four powerful Russian glide bombs hit a prison in Ukraine’s southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, authorities said. They killed at least 16 inmates and wounded more than 90 others, Ukraine’s Justice Ministry said.
Russian forces struck the Belenkivska correctional colony in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region with four guided bombs just before midnight on Monday, killing 17 inmates, the Justice Ministry said. The strike “completely destroyed” the colony’s dining room and “significantly damaged” its administrative headquarters and quarantine station.
Mr. Trump said on Monday that he would give Russia about 10 to 12 days to end the war before implementing a new round of penalties against Moscow. The Kremlin offered little reaction.
