The Denver Broncos' Pat Surtain II became just the second cornerback since 2010 to win the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Surtain joined Hall of Fame linebacker Randy Gradishar as the only Bronco to win the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year honors. Gradiahar claimed it in 1978.

Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II has been named the AP Defensive Player of the Year during tonight’s NFL Award ceremony.

Pat Surtain is just the seventh cornerback to win Defensive Player of the Year, and he’s the second Bronco, joining Randy Gradishar (1978).

Cornerback and team captain Pat Surtain II is adding AP Defensive Player of the Year to his award collection. He was also recently named Defensive Player of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America and was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for November, among other awards.

Surtain was named 2024 Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year at NFL Honors on Thursday, becoming just the second player in franchise history to earn the award. Denver's standout cornerback joins Randy Gradishar, who won in 1978, as the only Broncos to win the NFL's top defensive honor.
