ICE agents arrested Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil -- a leader in Columbia University's encampment movement -- on Saturday night, said attorney Amy Greer.

Khalil, a Palestinian activist who was involved in Columbia University's protests last year, has been detained by ICE.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents told Mahmoud Khalil that his student visa had been revoked before his arrest.

Mahmoud Khalil, who recently completed a graduate program at Columbia, has legal permanent residency, his lawyer said.

The arrest appeared to be among the first known actions under Trump’s pledge to deport international students who joined the protests against Israel’s war in Gaza.
