"Russian gas supplies to Europe through Ukraine ceased when the agreement expired. Ukraine stated that it would not extend the agreement. Türkiye is the only safe alternative for natural gas supplies to Europe," the report said. It is noted that, in addition to its geographic location, Türkiye has the infrastructure to supply natural gas.

Ukraine's decision to turn off the taps keeping Russian gas flowing via its territory to Europe has already sown trouble in the continent's east, with Moldova declaring a state of emergency and Slovakia threatening Kyiv with retaliation.

On Monday, the Russian authorities accused Ukrainian armed forces of targeting a hospital in the Olechki district of Russian-occupied Kherson.

Russia early Wednesday morning launched a drone strike on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, injuring no fewer than three people and damaging buildings in two districts. City officials said explosions boomed across the morning sky shortly after Ukraine’s air force warned of drones approaching the city.
