Marc Marquez celebrated the 1,000th premier class race by winning the Austrian Grand Prix for the first time. This victory marked his sixth consecutive Grand Prix win since May, further extending his lead in the championship over his brother Alex.
Marc Marquez sliced a half-second deficit to one-tenth of a second on lap nine, then passed his brother for the lead exiting the turn two chicane with five laps to go and bolted, eventually crossing the line to win by 1.180secs.

MotoGP has announced a small change to the sprint regulations from this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix surrounding the grid procedure. Introduced in 2023 in a bid to add more spectacle and give greater value to spectators, sprints have become part of the furniture three seasons into the new era.
Miller, who spent part of his mid-season break riding for Yamaha in Japan in the prestigious Suzuka 8-Hour endurance event, said in Austria on Thursday that “there’s still nothing on the table” for 2026, and reiterated his commitment to Yamaha and hopes of staying beyond this season.
