Tesla canceled its Cybertruck range extender, which was set for mid-2025 release.The optional battery pack would extend the distance the Cybertruck could drive before needing to recharge.Tesla's decision follows previous delays and a reduction in initial range estimates.

Tesla originally stated that the range extender would bump the dual motor Cybertruck's range up from 325 to 470 miles, but was later revised to 445 miles. Elon Musk's EV company also originally slated the range extender release for early 2025, but moved it to mid-2025. Now it appears there will be no release at all.

Tesla never publicized the battery capacity of this pack, only promising it would boost the dual motor’s range from 340 miles (547 km) to 445+ miles. It was also going to increase the tri-motor Cybertruck’s range from 320 miles (515 km) to 440 miles (708 km). The company even opened reservations, asking buyers for a $2,000 non-refundable deposit.
