Yemen's Houthi forces attacked "a vital target" in Israel's Red Sea port city of Eilat with a number of drones, the Iran-aligned group's military spokesperson Yahya Saree said on Saturday. The militant group has launched dozens of attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea region since November in solidarity with Palestinians in the war between Israel and Hamas.

Yemen's Houthi group announced on Sunday it had launched a fresh drone attack on Israel. In a televised statement, Houthi spokesperson Yahya Sarea said the operation was carried out "in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples," targeting a number of "military and vital targets" in the Israeli cities of Jaffa and Ashkelon.

A ship passing through the Red Sea 25 nautical miles west of Al-Mukha, Yemen, reported on Sunday that a missile had splashed into the sea nearby, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said.

Yemen's Huthi rebels have theartened to hit vessels of German shipping firms passing  near the Red Sea or using Israeli ports, the German shipowners' association VDR said Monday.
