Owner Mark Davis has now fired five head coaches since taking over the franchise in 2011 and that's not counting Jon Gruden, who resigned during the 2021 season. While it's easy to justify firing Pierce, many fans and media pundits don't understand why Davis waited to make the decision or why the coach was hired in the first place.

Despite the team's disappointing 4-13 record, the Raiders owner appears set to bring back Pierce for another season.
