A cargo ship carrying 3,048 Chinese cars bound for Mexico caught fire and sank. Among those cars were some GM models and about 750 EVs and hybrids.

Midas, a cargo ship, sank near Alaska after a fire. The crew was safely evacuated, and salvage operations are underway.

The burned-out ship capsized and then sunk at 5:35 pm local time on Monday, while it was under tow to the nearest suitable port. The US Coast Guard says that there was no visible
