Draft documents suggest Russia will increase defense spending to $145 billion as it embarks on a recruitment push.

Russia is hiking state spending on national defence by a quarter in 2025 to 6.3% of gross domestic product (GDP), the highest levels since the Cold War, according to draft budget documents published on Monday.

Russia will increase its military spending by almost 30% next year, according to a draft budget published Monday. The 2025 budget will take Russia’s military spending up to $145 billion, about $32 billion more than was budgeted for this year’s campaign and more military dollars than Russia has spent since the Soviet Union era.

The Ukrainian air force says Russia fired missiles and drones at 11 regions of Ukraine. It was the 33rd consecutive night of aerial attacks behind the front line and set a new monthly record of drone barrages.

Ukraine on Sunday said it sent more than 100 drones deep inside Russia to hit a major weapons depot, as it stepped up attacks further inside Russian territory.
