A new wildfire was reported today at 2:20 p.m. in San Diego County, California. Border 8 Fire has been burning on state land.

The Bonanza Fire in Shingle Springs, the Monte Fire in Lakeside and the Ranch Pl Fire in San Jose all broke out on June 17.

The fire was about 25% contained and officials said they planned to drop firefighters onto the steep terrain by helicopter.

There were 153 personnel assigned to the fire, including 25 engines, seven crews and two helicopters, fire officials said.

But on Tuesday, the San Diego City Council voted to accept county grant funding for the fire rings for the next fiscal year.
