“It’s unclear if the promotion puts Bazzana in line to make his big league debut this season. He is a second baseman and the Guardians just moved Brayan Rocchio, their opening day shortstop, to second base. Rocchio has been playing good defense and contributing offensively.

Injuries upset those plans as Travis Bazzana, Chase DeLauter and Juan Brito spent considerable time on the injured list. While DeLauter and Brito are still injured, Bazzana was promoted to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday from Double-A Akron.

Matt “Tugboat” Wilkinson had one of his best games of the season, tossing 5.0 shutout innings with seven strikeouts and no walks on five hits. He was followed by the High-A debut of Rafe Schlesinger, who piggybacked Wilkinson perfectly with 4.0 innings of scoreless long relief and allowing just one hit.
